More about

The project

In spring 2014, Las Vegas opened the world's largest observation wheel to the public. Called “High Roller”, this giant wheel, 168 metres high, is the flagship attraction of “The Linq”, an urban entertainment and leisure district of nearly 100,000 m2, built near Caesars Palace, Flamingo and Harrah's casino hotels. The 28 spherical and transparent capsules of the “High Roller” offer a breathtaking 30-minute view of Las Vegas from the sky.

Each cabin measures 6 metres in diameter, weighs 25 tonnes and can carry 40 passengers

POMA, innovation

For the project

A Giant Wheel

The Las Vegas High Roller is one of the largest observation wheels in the world

Drive system

A system of tyres directly connected the wheel allows it to rotate. The POMA Group’s SEMER company provides remote control with command-control PLCs.

Comfortable capsules

The wheel turns continuously at low speeds, allowing people with reduced mobility to be welcomed onboard. For a comfortable experience, the capsules are air-conditioned and equipped with a multimedia system.

Innovative capsules

Already the designer of the ovoid cabins of the famous London Eye wheel, POMA has once again innovatively developed cabins which are unique worldwide, especially for the High Roller.

Rotating capsules, which themselves turn to ensure an constantly horizontal plane. Made of high-quality curved optical-quality laminated glass, which is exclusive POMA technology, and attached to the outside of the wheel structure, they offer an ideal panoramic view

Capsules that are Made in France

Designed and manufactured in France, the capsules were shipped in parts to the United States to the American subsidiary of POMA: LPOA (Leitner-Poma of America). The LPOA’s mission is to assemble, install and adjust the 40 capsules on the 168-metre high observation wheel.

Connected capsules

Following the London Eye model, each cabin has its own entertainment system, a wall of 360-degree screens with extensive information about the city’s sights and fun photos of passengers onboard for their birthday or wedding. These capsules can be privately hired for the organisation of events.
