Storebaelt Bridge On one of the most important erection site of the century ; indeed the company COMAG, one of Poma Group subsidiaries, already succeeded in imposing its mountain type know-how for the erection of the Storebaelt bridge, linking the Zealand island to the rest of Denmark. Most of the time under very difficult conditions, the staff of COMAG has been able to carry out each step of the assembly of both track cables, i.e. :
The Storebaelt bridge and some of its most significant figures : the suspended bridge is part of an offshore overall covering more than 18 km between Hallskov and Nyborg. It is also composed of a four-lane highway. Both of the concrete ³piles² supporting the bridge ³tablier² are 254 m high. The suspended bridge part is 2700 m high with a free span of 1624 m, i.e. it is up to now the most important seabridge of the world. Last the bridge ³tablier² is maintained by two track cables each of them having a length of 3 km, a diameter of 85 cm and weighing 19 000 tones ; they are both made of 18 648 steel parallel wires and grouped into 37 strands. |
