POMA and the Compagnie des Alpes sign a contract for 5 major ropeways in Val d’Isère, Tignes, Méribel, La Plagne and Serre Chevalier

The Compagnie des Alpes, world leader in ski area operation and POMA have signed a €38 million contract to renew five major ropeways in 5 emblematic French Alps ski resorts: Val d’Isère, Tignes, Méribel, La Plagne and Serre Chevalier.

-At Val d’Isère, the new and unique in France Symphony 10-passenger cabin designed by Pininfarina, will replace the ancient La Daille gondola lift. Fifty very bright cabins, marrying space and comfort with their heated seats and one VIP cabin will be delivered to the ski resort on this summer for an expected opening of the ropeways in December 2018.

-At Méribel, the lift will be equipped, for the first time in France, with 104 Premium bubble chairs with heated seats and head rests (3,600 pers/hour).

-At Tignes, a new gondola lift will connect Brévières to the Boisses area and will replace three lifts. Thanks to the OWA (Operation Without Attendant) configuration, this new gondola lift will run without operating staff in the bottom station from 5PM to midnight.

-At la Plagne, a new high-capacity 6-seater detachable chairlift will replace the 4-seater POMA fixed chairlift installed in 1987. The future lift will be able to transport 3,600 passengers per hour at 5.5 m/s and will be equipped with a clean and silent DirectDrive motor.

-At Serre-Chevalier, the detachable chairlift will be built equipped with the DirectDrive motor as well. With its 106 six-seater chairs and a transport capacity of 3,000 passengers per hour, the existing surface lift and the fixed chairlift can be dismantled.

Construction work will start in summer 2018, for an expected opening in December 2018. Last Saturday at Val d’Isère, during the Alpine Skiing World Cup competition “Criterium de la Première Neige, the CDA and POMA unveiled exclusively the new la Daille Symphony.
