POMA HAS been awarded the contract to build the urban tramway in Sainte-Clotilde on Reunion Island

The North Reunion Island municipality group CINOR have chosen FILAO, a joint venture represented by POMA, bringing together seven companies, including 5 island companies: SOGEA Océan Indien, SODIPARC, ISR, EGIS, Atelier Architecte, and Richez Associés - to build and provide maintenance operations to the Reunion’s first urban tramway.

The future Reunion Island urban tramway will be 2.68 km long and will connect the Chaudron area, east of downtown Saint-Denis, to the Bois de Nèfles Sainte-Clotilde area in the north, passing through the Moufia area. The trip will take 14 minutes with three intermediate stations along the line. It will be equipped with 46 ten-passenger cabins and reach a capacity of 1,200 people per hour. It will be connected to the existing public transportation network and will be integrated to two regional guided and modern transportation network programs initiated by the city of SaintDenis. Work will start in January 2019 with opening to the public planned for December 2019.

CINOR is one of the pioneering municipality groups in France, alongside Toulouse and Orléans, that is bringing an urban tramway project to fruition by entrusting their project to POMA.
