MOUNTAIN PLANET

The Mountain Planet 2022 will be held from April 26 to 28 at Alpexpo, Grenoble.

Every two years, Grenoble, capital of the French Alps, hosts one of the most important events for mountain professionals. For 3 days, the Mountain Planet exhibition brings together mountain professionals in winter and summer, as well as urban land use planners.

In 2022, the commitment of POMA, the world reference in ropeway transport, is reflected in a new range of products and services that are increasingly efficient and eco-responsible, for a lower environmental impact.

Discover our vision of ropeway mobility on the Mountain Planet stand 123 and let’s commit together for a less carbonated and more virtuous world.

Opening of

the 6th Metrocable line

The city of Medellín opened Metrocable’s 6th line, “Line P” (Picacho), in the presence of the Colombian President, on 10 June.

This new gondola lift is connected directly to the metro line A and has 4 stations spread over a 2700 metre-long line, connecting the north-west of Medellín to its city centre, over 344 meters of difference in altitude.

The line is equipped with eco-friendly, decarbonised technology and the country’s first DirectDrive® motor: a silent energy-efficient motor. It is a genuine overhead tram with 130 Diamond gondolas to ensure constant capacity with 10 seats and 2 standing places to meet the demands of peak-time traffic.

The gondolas, like their stations and their subassemblies, were manufactured in the POMA Group’s factories in France; the line structures were built on site in Medellín.

About

THE PROJECT

The future of urban transport is a real social and environmental issue and is at the heart of ongoing discussions among communities. The pioneering city of Medellín was the first municipality to use a new urban mobility solution by integrating an overhead ropeway line into its network in 2004. Metrocable’s first line, “Line K”, which is connected to the metro, created a link between the inhabitants and the city centre. This new urban mobility, made possible by the new lines, has reinforced the social cohesion in local areas by connecting sectors that had long been isolated.

After the success of this first gondola lift, Medellín continued to develop the “proyecto de Ciudad” city project by adding 5 other lines to the network: line J (2007), line L (2010), line H (2016), line M (2019) and finally line P (2021).

Open 7 days a week, 19 hours a day, the Metrocable provides the inhabitants of Medellín with a safe, fast and efficient mode of transport between the city centre and its outskirts. The network of cable cars now stretches over 14 kilometres, directly connected to the different lines of the Medellín Metro by multimodal stations. Each year, more than 220 million people use the city's transport system, demonstrating a successful social inclusion model that offers a new quality of life to the city's residents through social connections and increasingly attractive neighbourhoods.

Thanks to this sustainable mobility solution and its proven energy efficiency, air pollution has been cut for the inhabitants of Medellín. This is because the extent of the Metrocable transport system is such that it contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions and improves air quality by offering an alternative to road traffic.

Unveiling of the TELEO Symphony Cabin

IN TOULOUSE

On Friday 28 May, Jean-Luc Moudenc, the mayor of Toulouse, along with Jean-Michel Lattes and Philippe Perrin from Tisséo, unveiled the cabin of Toulouse’s future aerial tramway.

The cabin will be on display to the public from Friday 28 May until Sunday 6 June from 10am to 7pm. Located next to the Capitole metro station, visitors will be able to preview the Symphony cabin to discover and try out its spacious and comfortable interior.

Cabin

FEATURES

The Symphony model cabins will be able to accommodate a total of 34 people with 20 seats, spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility and even spaces for bikes. They will travel at a speed of 25 km/h and come to a complete stop at the station to make boarding and alighting as safe as possible. The symphony model is completely silent and will offer passengers a safe and comfortable travel experience, as well as a panoramic view of the city. The carrier will also be equipped with an anti-vertigo filter to ensure that even those most sensitive to heights can enjoy the ride.

The metallic blue POMA cabin boasts a simple and elegant design by Paolo Pininfarina, the famous Italian Ferrari designer. Like all of our cabin ranges, Symphony cabins are produced in France, at the Sigma subsidiary based in Veyrins-Thuellin near Grenoble, guaranteeing POMA know-how and expertise.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Three kilometres long, the Téléo line connects Paul Sabatier University and the Oncopole in just a 10-minute ride which crosses the Garonne river. The first 3S urban aerial tramway in France will provide a fast and reliable mode of transport at the heart of the public transport network in Toulouse.

Thanks to the future Téléo, the city of Toulouse is also offering residents an even cleaner, more sustainable mode of transport. With 8000 travellers expected each day, Toulouse's forthcoming aerial tramway will reduce ground traffic, therefore reducing Co2 emissions.

Congrès DSF
10.08.2018
Back to the 80th edition of the

Domaine Skiable de France congress

Few days ago, the annual DSF congress took place. The edition was on “the mountain of tomorrow in France” theme. And welcomed the President of the organisation newly nominated

A congress focused at first on the opportunity to celebrate the 80 years of the organization and also on the election of Alexandre Maulin as new President who will take over from Pierre Lestas and on the renewal around the central theme “The Mountain of tomorrow”.

An expected election

AND A DESIRE FOR INNOVATION

The young Savoyard President was elected unanimously by the General Assembly of “Domaines Skiables de France” and will succeed Pierre Lestas.
Pascal Tournier will be his Deputy President. Alongside a renewed team, he is ready to meet the challenges of a mature ski market in France : establish a stable economic model for all operators, work at a rebalancing of the regulation which limits the economic development of ski resorts and act more on the development of new customers.

Discussions and conferences allowed the participants to talk about investments and changes that are required to make the mountain accessible to all, in any season, and to be able to meet the climate challenge.

For POMA ropeways, major conference partner, it was an opportunity to meet all our French customers, who came in large numbers to visit our booth for this 80th edition.
