Marie Bochet, exceptional woman and athlete.
Marie is the perfect incarnation of these values. But well beyond that, the story of her life and howshe became a champion has made her a role model for everyone, and illustrates how strong will, courage and hard work lead to excellence.
Marie comes from Beaufortin in the Savoie area. She was born with agenesis - a birth defect whichinvolved her forearm and left hand. She began skiing at the Saisies Sports Club and then at theArêches-Beaufort Ski Club, and right from the start practised alongside able-bodied skiers. She immediately created a sensation!
In 2010 she took part in her first Paralympic Games. Although she did not win in Vancouver, threeyears later - after intensive training - she gained success. At just 19 years old, during the 2013 Handiski World Championships, Marie BOCHET won everything: 5 world titles!
In 2014, at the Sochi Paralympic Games, she achieved supreme recognition: 4 Gold medals, one eachin Downhill, Super Giant Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super Combined. This is a tremendous personaland historical achievement !
In 2015, Marie doubled her performance and walked away with 5 world titles! Marie adds: "Mymotivation is still incredibly strong... I want to surpass myself each time I compete, and commitmyself to bringing hope to all disabled persons. I want to show them how sports can help promote personal development."
