More about

The project

A genuine connection between the city and the Mountain, the aerial ropeway is suitable for Morzine skiers who want to reach the Portes du Soleil area, but also for holidaymakers in transit to the Avoriaz resort, where access by car is forbidden.

Prodains Express is a public transport service, open daily from 7:00am to midnight, accessible to all of the general public: skiers, persons with reduced mobility, travellers with children and luggage.

To make getting on and off easier, the cabins, with large glass surface areas, large door openings and folding seat benches, stop at the station. The 3S Prodains Express aerial ropeway can carry up to 2000 people per hour in utmost comfort. It takes less than 5 minutes for the panoramic cabins to travel the 1750 m distance between the two stations.

For the project

Adjusting to the site

The top station was built into the ground in order to respect the spirit of the area and the architecture of the resort, in keeping with the natural features of the site.

Similarly, the top station’s ground coverage, by the cliff, was reduced by a tower that was cantilevered over the edge.

3S Technology

3S technology offers the benefits of a reversible aerial ropeway and a detachable aerial ropeway: combining spacious cabins with high-capacity transport. Fast, efficient, reliable, this 3S aerial ropeway proves that ropeway transport has many advantages and that it has its place at the heart of urban transport networks, all the way to the mountains.

Passenger safety

The configuration of the Prodains Express is avant-garde; its built-in recovery system allows cabins to be returned to the station in case of failure, without needing to evacuate passengers vertically from a height. First used in New York and Paradiski, this built-in recovery system is a first in France on a detachable ropeway with towers.

Optimised passenger flow

Depending on the period and the time, its operating mode differs and adapts to demand. This also helps to optimise energy consumption.
