The funiculars use the technology of vertical elevators. Their optimal range of application is short journeys, on a sloping track and on a straight line. With their complete automation, they work without an operator.

Automated People Mover – APM
An APM, Automated People Mover, is a fully automatic system without drivers and usually moves along on a flat plane, which differentiates it from funicular railways. Unlike with automotive vehicles, the machinery and motor equipment are located remotely thanks to the rope. Thus, the APM is often described as “light metro” technology, in the sense that the infrastructure (viaduct, track structure, etc.) and installation are lighter and faster.

The spa town of Luchon, in the heart of the Pyrenees, has a new gondola lift linking it to its ski resort at an altitude of 1,800 meters. The old gondola lift had already been in operation for 30 years, and the new Luchon Crémaillère Express gondola brings with it the benefits of a new generation of cable cars, symbolizing a modern, sustainable means of transport.

Maokong
The Maokong gondola lift is located in a historic area of the Taiwanese capital, connecting Taipei Zoo and Maokong. It is one of the largest in the world, spanning four kilometres. Ensuring the synchronisation of its 5 sections and the interconnection of its 6 stations constituted a true technological challenge.
