that adapt to the field

The POMA funicular railway is an ideal transport solution for urban tourism and industrial environments regardless of the climate environment. It is reversible is pulled by a rope, and can be integrated into a complex urban landscape, with curves and long distances.

Our funicular railways are custom-designed according to your requirements and use, and will offer you the best performance.

From the feasibility study to construction, from their retrofit to their maintenance, POMA is with you at every stage of the funicular railway project.

The funiculars

configurations
funiculaire POMA single lane with bypass

single lane with bypass

With the “single lane with bypass” configuration, the two carriers run on a single track and cross at a passing loop. The infrastructure is lighter for a large capacity with reversible operation

funiculaire POMA single lane

single lane

With the “single lane” configuration, the funicular railway works reversibly on one track.

funiculaire POMA dual lane

dual lane

Finally, with the “dual lane” configuration, each carrier moves back and forth independently on its track. This is the funicular railway solution to be adopted for transport with a very high number of visitors. This configuration also allows redundancy in the event of a track failure or maintenance.

 ADVANTAGES

of POMA FUNICULAR RAILWAY

AUTOMATION

The funicular railway can operate with or without an attendant, for controlled costs.

EXCEPTIONAL COMFORT

Optimal comfort for passengers when using the funicular railway:
• Quiet mode of transport
• Custom-made carrier, panoramic view and spacious carriers
• Accessibility
• Optimal environmental integration
• On the ground, the funicular railway is not affected by wind and weather
• In a tunnel, the funicular railway is ideal

FLEXIBILITY

The route is very flexible, straight or with bends, the funicular railway fits perfectly to the typology of the terrain.

Automated People Mover – APM

An APM, Automated People Mover, is a fully automatic system without drivers and usually moves along on a flat plane, which differentiates it from funicular railways. Unlike with automotive vehicles, the machinery and motor equipment are located remotely thanks to the rope. Thus, the APM is often described as “light metro” technology, in the sense that the infrastructure (viaduct, track structure, etc.) and installation are lighter and faster.

Inclined Elevator

The funiculars use the technology of vertical elevators. Their optimal range of application is short journeys, on a sloping track and on a straight line. With their complete automation, they work without an operator.
