Metrocable Medellin inaugurated the fourth interconnected ropeway line in the Columbian city.

MEDELLIN INAUGURATIONSaturday, December 17, 2016, Mayor Federico Gutierrez inaugurated the new Metrocable urban gondola lift line. Many public figures were present: Antioquia Governor Luis Perez, Medellin Metro General Manager Tomas Elejalde, and French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Marc Ayrault.

Since 2004, when the first POMA Metrocable line was commissioned, over 70,000 people enjoy their daily commute inside gondola lifts—flying over the river, streets and traffic jams lingering below—365 days a year. This is mobility with major social impacts that were enabled not only by the quality of the installations but also thanks to a dedicated POMA operations and maintenance team that ensures an availability rate of over 99.5%!

The H line is 1,405 meters long with a vertical rise of 197 meters. Eight to ten passengers comfortably travel inside 42 cabins, reaching a total capacity of 1,800 people per hour serving three stations. Interconnected to the city's tramway network, this fourth line—and the fifth line currently being built for March 2017—is part of the sustainable commuter development project called "Corredores Verdes."
