Funiflaine, a new valley lift enhancing quality of life in the region
At the heart of the Grand Massif Resort, the new Funiflaine valley lift will usher in a whole new approach to mobility in mountain areas while cutting road traffic, in line with the region’s sustainable development policy. Connecting the valley to the ski resort of Flaine, the future aerial tramway will be used to carry people and their luggage, as well as supplies for shops and hotels in the skiing area.

The 6th Metrocable line in Medellin
The Medellín Metrocable opened its 6th gondola lift line, "Line P", on 10 June 2021, pursuing the development of this sustainable public transport network, which has been a global model for the past 15 years.
The pioneering city of Medellín set the standard for a new model of urban mobility by integrating a gondola lift into its public transport network in 2004: a world first which became an international benchmark with 5 lines in operation, able to accommodate nearly 220,000 passengers per day over 14 kilometres of lines.

The construction of la Reunion’s first urban cable car progresses
In Saint-Denis de la Réunion, the outlines of the urban cable car take shape. Within one year, the stations and the lines have almost been completed! The commissioning should be by the end of 2021.

Charles de Gaule – Etoile
The inclined elevator of the Charles de Gaulle-Étoile station, in the heart of western Paris, was installed to facilitate the connection between the stations of metro lines 1 and 6 and the RER A regional express network line station, the central thoroughfare for transport in Paris, connecting east to west in the Paris region.

For more than 50 years, this long-standing subsidiary of POMA has specialised in the design, manufacture and final assembly of cabins for passenger transport.
SIGMA’s know-how extends beyond a standard product catalogue. The company also designs and manufactures tailor-made cabins for the POMA Group’s special projects such as funiculars, APMs and observation wheel capsules.

La Plagne
A new “Glaciers” gondola lift strategically links Plagne Bellecôte resort to the Glacier de la Chaupe. Comprising two sections that can operate independently, it provides a link between 2,700 m and 3,000 m, whatever the weather conditions. Passengers can enjoy the comfort of EVO 2 XLINE cabins, which can accommodate up to 10 people, as well as exceptional 360° panoramic views.

The longest urban cable car in France and Europe, Téleo, has been inaugurated in Toulouse. Fast and eco-responsible, the aerial line covers 3 kilometers in about ten minutes and serves one of the city's major activity areas, perfectly interconnected with its transportation network.

Chiatura
To retrofit its urban overhead transport system, the city of Chiatura chose POMA. Four small urban ropeways, developed specifically to satisfy the needs in terms of capacity and the constraints regarding distances, have replaced some (very) old Russian ropeways.

Last capsule installed on the biggest observation wheel in the world
On Bluwaters Island, Dubai (United Arab Emirates), POMA has installed
the 48th and last capsule on the world’s biggest observation wheel,
named Ain Dubai.

POMA carried out the special inspection of the iconic funicular railway in Lyon. During the inspection, its carriers as well as the drive station were completely renovated and upgraded in SIGMA's workshops, according to the SYTRAL guidelines aimed at “providing users with an even greater level of comfort, while preserving the line’s historic heritage”.

Maokong
The Maokong gondola lift is located in a historic area of the Taiwanese capital, connecting Taipei Zoo and Maokong. It is one of the largest in the world, spanning four kilometres. Ensuring the synchronisation of its 5 sections and the interconnection of its 6 stations constituted a true technological challenge.

In China, POMA has built the world’s first three interconnected tri-cable ropeways system (3S) for the Chimelong Group, the world’s 6th largest entertainment group.

Vanoise Express
The emblematic ropeway of the Vanoise Massif mountain range gave rise to the vast Paradiski skiing area in 2003. It held the record as the biggest cabin in the world until 2016.

Yen TU
The Buddhist temples of the sacred mountain of Yen Tu welcome many pilgrims and tourists. In 2017, two new gondola lifts were built, including New Yen Tu 1, which complements the mobility offer by doubling the Yen Tu 1 gondola lift.

Sharing over 80 years of history with the resort, POMA has supported Alpe d’Huez in the construction of dedicated public transport, a 2 km urban gondola lift, connecting the resort centre to the slopes.

The Plan Joran gondola lift is an essential part of the Grands Montets ski resort, nestled in a listed natural site. It offers access to the ski area at altitude and offers an exceptional view of the Aiguille du Chardonnet.

“Liaison Blanc-Blanc” is more than just a funicular railway, it is a mini mobile clean room, ISO 6 classified, which connects the two controlled environment areas of the Grenoble CEA over 250 metres.

POMA guarantees the availability of a stock of spare parts throughout the life cycle of the installations and uses local storage facilities to respond as quickly as possible to any customer request.

Airtram New York
With the installation of this ultra-modern aerial tramway, POMA has provided New Yorkers with the most advanced technology in urban ropeway transportation. It is 960 m long and connects Roosevelt Island to Manhattan in just three minutes, passing over the East River in great comfort with unique views of New York through the huge windows on both cabins.

Téléo
More than 8,000 passengers will board the cabins of the Téléo tricable ropeway every day. Part of the Toulouse Agglomeration’s transport network, it crosses a river and travels over a hill to link three major hubs of activity in the south of Toulouse: the University Cancer Institute, Rangueil Hospital and Paul Sabatier University.

This urban gondola lift incorporated into a public transport system was a world first and quickly became a model for many large cities in terms of sustainable transportation and social inclusion. With the Metrocable, the city was gradually transformed, connecting the different neighbourhoods and their inhabitants.

In 2007, Metrocable’s second line initiated the urbanisation of an area to the west of the city. Unlike its predecessor, line K, the objective of commissioning line J was to support urban development in that area, rather than to bring the highly populated neighbourhood out of any kind of isolation.

In Algiers, the urban gondola lift linking the Bab el Oued district to Zghara, via the middle station of Village Céleste, not only makes it easier for the 6.7 million inhabitants of the capital to get around, but also helps to bring the hilltop village of Zghara out of isolation.

Laying of the foundation stone for gondola lift on La Réunion
On Friday, 20 September, the municipal association CINOR (Communauté Intercommuncale Du Nord de la Réunion) and the FILAO-Group (Atelier Architectes, POMA and Egis) have celebrated the beginning of the constructions works for this project on La Réunion.
The first urban ropeway on the island will streamline the traffic, particularly dense today, and encourage more sustainable modes of travel.
